What's new in AgileCase 2.0?
We're excited to announce the release of AgileCase 2.0! This major upgrade brings a host of improvements to every aspect of the system, from usability to performance to enhanced integration with other cloud services. With this upgrade, we've laid the foundation for even more exciting upgrades in the future, including the introduction of innovative new features powered by generative AI. Overall, AgileCase 2.0 is a major step forward for our platform, and we can't wait for our users to experience all of the new enhancements for themselves.
New customers are already being onboarded using the upgraded platform. We'll be in touch with our existing customers to discuss the option of upgrading to AgileCase 2.0 soon.
As we begin to roll out AgileCase 2.0 to new customers early this year, we wanted to give you a sneak peek at some of the standout improvements you can expect to see:
1 - Say hello to 'Worktypes'
In AgileCase 2.0, we've introduced the concept of a ‘Worktype’ to address one of the most requested improvements to v1; to ensure that Contacts and Cases have exactly the the same support for certain features. In AgileCase 1.0 what was possible to configure on a Case was not always possible on a Contact, and vice versa. Some customers even preferred to use Cases as a single ‘container’ for all of the data of a customer, rather than using Contacts at all.
In v2.0 everything is now based on a default Worktype, and the content of that Worktype (including Pages, Templates, Forms, and Reports) can be customized to meet the specific needs of your process. This gives you greater flexibility to tailor AgileCase to fit your unique workflow and requirements.
AgileCase 2.0 comes with three default Worktypes:
Contacts
Cases
Projects
Each default Worktype comes pre-optimized for storing specific types of information: Contacts are best for storing contact-like information, Cases are best for storing case-like information, and Projects are best for storing timelines, to-do lists, and document management.
However these defaults are just to get you started. The functionality available to them is identical, and you can customize all Worktypes to include whichever AgileCase modules you want. This means that if you prefer to just have a single Worktype that stores all Contact and Case data in a single "container" per customer, you can now do that. It's up to you!
Complete Customisation with Blocks & Pages
Customizing a Worktype is now easier than ever thanks to the new "Blocks" system. To configure your Worktype, simply drag and drop the blocks you need onto the "Pages" of your Worktype. You can split your custom fields across multiple pages and apply specific permissions to those pages, or you can now completely remove blocks like Docs and Comms if you don't need them. Here's an example of the default content of the "Sample Case" Worktype:
Using the Drag and Drop Form editor you can completely customize the “New” screen for your Worktype so you capture just the right information up-front.
You can even publish your custom form as a link which you can embed on your Website or send to customers in an Email for them to complete.
2 - Improved Search
Search has been redesigned from the ground up to behave more like you would expect from a search engine like Google. This means that you can now configure AgileCase to search any field within a Worktype, rather than just the standard fields like Description and Name.
This opens up a whole new world of search flexibility, allowing you to easily search based on the values of any custom fields you've added to your Worktypes. Filtering has also been improved so you can quickly drill into search results by Worktype, Status, Recently used and Assigned To.
In short, the search capabilities in AgileCase are now more powerful and customizable than ever before.
3 - Custom Fields is now Custom Forms - Everything is a Form!
What used to be called "Custom Field Groups" are now called "Forms". Forms offer significantly more flexibility than the old custom field groups, and can be deployed to capture data within your Worktypes or even published on the internet for your customers to submit. Once a Form has been submitted, it can trigger the creation of a new item within your system or the update of an existing item.
Easier to Edit
The Form editing experience has also been completely redesigned, with a fully drag-and-drop interface that makes it easy to see exactly what you're creating at all times. You now have more control over the appearance of your Forms, with options for multi-column and multi-tab layouts, label positions, custom buttons, and a more refined set of field types.
Many common tasks that used to require scripting, such as hiding or showing fields, can now be accomplished simply by selecting a few plain English options within the Form editor.
Scripting For Power Users
For power users, we still offer the ability to use JavaScript scripting and access to our full REST API to further customize the content and behaviour of your Forms. However, we believe that even power users will find that the new tools we've provided will reduce their need to resort to scripting by 90%.
4 - Report Like A Boss!
Easier to Create and Maintain
Reports have been redesigned to make it easier to create reports than ever before. Gone are the days of dealing with "Custom Field IDs" and having to look up the unique number of each field you want to include in your report. Now, every Form you create has a name, and every field you add to a Form has a name as well. To build a report, simply drag-and-drop these simply named fields onto the report canvas.
Receive by Email
You can now schedule Reports to be automatically generated and emailed to you whenever you like and we also keep a history of Reports so you can, for example, compare performance over time.
Export to the Cloud and more!
In addition to the ability to create reports, you can now do even more with the data within AgileCase. We're working on integrations that allow you to automatically export report data from AgileCase to other popular cloud services. By using our integration with Zapier, you can open up the potential to integrate with any of the 5,000 cloud services supported by that platform. This opens up a world of possibilities for working with your data in new and innovative ways, and we can't wait to see all of the creative uses that our users come up with.
