5.7 Creating Contact Relationships

This lesson will show you how to set up new client relationships in a case type.

Access the "Relationships" page

Relationships are an option within a case that allows you to select how the client is related to a case. For example, a relationship type of "Solicitor" will allow you to select a contact as a solicitor within the specified case type.

To create a new relationship, first navigate to the "Relationships" page by clicking the button on the settings menu under "Case Type Settings".

Add a new relationship

The relationships page displays all of the relationship types you have created as well as the case types there are available in.

To add a new relationship type, click "Add Relationship" at the top of the page.

Fill in the related contact type details

You will now be presented with a series of fields to fill out. the name and description fields allow you to decide the title of the new relationship type and write a brief description of it.

The joint client option allows you to designate any contact under this description as a joint client in the case, which will list their name under the named client on the case screen.

Finally you can select which case types this relationship will be available in, single relationships can be used in multiple case types in order to avoid having to create the same relationship twice for different cases.

Once you have finished specifying your new relationship, click "Save Changes" to create it.

Editing and deleting relationships.

Now that your new relationship type has been created it will be listed on the relationships page along with the AgileCase default relationships.

If you want to edit or delete this, or any other, relationship type use the dropdown menu opposite and select either "Edit" to bring up the related contact type details or "Set inactive" to send it to the recovery bin, which you can read about here.
